Cultural Celebration continued…
United Vibrations
MMC alumni and acclaimed band United Vibrations consists of brothers Ahmad (trombone), Kareem (bass guitar), and Yussef Dayes (drums) together with Wayne Francis) (Saxophone. Their sounds are a unique Afrobeat-influenced, genre-defying, jazz blend. The story goes, they are messengers from Inner Space, travelling the world and seeking those who are ready to rediscover the Golden Ratio.
About their 2016 album, Kareem shares, “The Myth Of The Golden Ratio is a story that tells the tale of us and our journey in this world. It has been written for children and anyone with children or a childlike mind. We are inviting people to join us in the search for the Golden Ratio.” The Urban Vibrations artwork graces the walls of the MMC courtyard as a reminder of our aim to continue to support and nurture original, young, urban talent.
Yussef Dayes continues to collaborate and develop his style with artists like Alfa Mist and Mansur Brown. Wayne Francis, aka Ahnansé, founded the Steam Down collective in May 2017, a group exploration described as ‘an explosive vibe-athon exploring broken beat, grime, future soul and jazz’.
