This Back to Basics one-day course is for anyone who has been working on releasing new music, or anyone who wants to understand any aspect of self-releasing, to improve your reach regardless of genre/musical style. It will cover producing relevant assets, organising photo shoots, preparing artist or band bios, PR for the release, metadata for distributors and planning your release campaign, along with building your team. It will provide an overview of the steps that you can take to make your release more successful and build on the opportunities that you can create whilst preparing your music for global audiences from mapping out the number of videos required to improving your music profile on digital platforms, gathering the information in a simple action plan to achieve your creative goals. Every step is a step forward and there is always something new to share in the crazy world we call the music business.

The course is led by The Midi Music Company Founder and Executive Director, Wozzy Brewster, OBE FRSA, who is an experienced artist/band manager, music industry consultant and Board or panel member to various music businesses. Students who have a live project at the time of the course can bring their laptop or tablet to share progress and work on their creative project. Please be prepared to take notes.

What previous students had to say about the course:

“I know a lot of people who’ve released music and miss out on a lot of important things I learned in this course.”

“I gained so many industry insights and will have follow-up emails with contacts.”

“I came wanting to know about what I need to do to maximise listeners/audience for my first release. Also, about being more pragmatic about releasing music. Definitely achieved these goals!”
