Music Explosion Sessions provide an opportunity for our CICAS®/CAPs talent development members, musicians, producers, singers, songwriters, bands, emerging managers and young creatives to enhance their understanding of the music industry.
Spring Sessions 2022 will focus on registering and collecting royalty payments for your compositions and recorded music, with Q&As at the end of the talks. Wherever you are in your career, Music Explosion is an essential evening to inspire your practise and inform your next steps.
Speakers
6.00pm – 6.45pm Mel Cameron – Operations Team Manager – PPL
Learn about collecting royalties for your recorded music. Whether you are a performer or rights-holder, there is money to made.
Mel Cameron is an Operations Team Manager at PPL, a company that licenses the use of recorded music and collects royalties for performers and rights-holders. She helps its wide range of artist and recording rights-holder members by making sure their joining PPL is as smooth as possible, that they are maximising the royalty payments they receive and that their accounts are up to date and accurate.
7.00pm – 7.45pm Stuart Belsham – PRS for Music Writer Relationship Manager
If you write songs and compose music that is performed live, broadcast on radio or used for sync, you can gain greater insight into the process of registering your music and reporting music use for royalty payments.
Stuart is part of the Writer Relations & Outreach team at PRS for Music, with specific responsibility for top tier and emerging talent. Through direct engagement with music creators, artists and the wider music industry community, Stuart is a key contact point for writers and their reps, responsible for raising a better awareness and understanding around PRS for Music – and at the same time highlighting some of the ways which music creators can generate an income whilst developing their career.
7.00pm – 7.45pm: Open Networking – Hosted by MMC Executive Director, Wozzy Brewster OBE FRSA. Participants will be able to have a follow-up discussion about collecting their royalties, raise specific issues and clarify information shared in the previous sessions.
