Angelina is an independent recording artist, singer, songwriter and composer born in Italy and based in London. As a versatile singer, Angelina also collaborates and writes with other artists, recently featuring in the celtic rock EP ‘Selkie’ , ‘Baila por la Paz‘ album by Alex Paton, Rumori della Terra by JJ Gullo and ‘Lies in Suit and Tie’ album in collaboration with Terra Viva.
We caught up with Angelina to find out more about her journey as a runner joining the special event.
What motivated you to get involved in running the half marathon?
“It was my friend Barbara [singer-songwriter Barbarella] who saw the call out of The Midi Music Company, together with my boyfriend Carlo [Pisanu] who ran with me and who encouraged me to take on this massive challenge. I wasn’t sure at first, as I had only started running in early 2020 and had only done 5km up to that point, but I accepted because I wanted to give back to The Midi Music Company after all the support they had given me through the years; and on top of that I needed a personal challenge for my fitness and something to look forward to.”
So, why The Midi Music Company?
“The Midi Music Company has supported me as an artist for many years. It has offered me rehearsal space and courses at a sustainable price, guidance in the music industry and a paid internship. So, I really wanted to give back. Especially after the difficulties The Midi Music Company encountered during Covid – where the building had to shut for almost a year. Luckily, things were still happening online, but it was a tough moment for the company and a lot of the staff.”
What have you enjoyed most about your training – what have you struggled with?
“The thing I enjoyed the most was seeing people’s support; the smiles, the words of encouragement, the bands and the DJs playing, giving us new strength every mile. I got really emotional during the race and at the end because I felt the love and support of all the people there. Over 10,000 people gathered to support amazing charities, all there for a good cause.
It’s quite a strong feeling of overwhelming energy. Over 300 charities involved; so many amazing costumes and colours. It was a very unique experience!
The thing I struggled with the most was the constant training (under any weather) and getting to the end of the race!!! Bloody hard, but so chuffed with my self now. It was a great feeling, knowing I had reached a goal that seemed impossible months ago!”
How has your talent as a musician helped your training?
“I guess dedication and perseverance are qualities that I have as a musician and that I applied to this race. Nothing is impossible if you put your mind and heart into it!”
“Thank you to all the people that sponsored me in support of The Midi Music Company“
